SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
YEAR REVIEW
So far this year, the senior girls volleyball team have been very successful in winning
all their league games. The Gators competed in a well-played game against Yale
Secondary winning in four sets. They also destroyed the Sardis Secondary team
in a quick three sets. The team then played a vicious, nail-biting against
Mouat Secondary, coming out on top in the fifth set 15-13.
The senior girls also took a fun filled road trip up to the Okanagan, to compete in the annual Kelowna tournament. They played many exciting games versus several teams throughout the first day, and ended up finishing out their round robin pool play in
2nd place (winner’s bracket of their pool). On the second day, the girls
played some tough games that were close in score, but did not finish the way
they hoped. However, they very much enjoyed the time spent in Kelowna bonding;
laughing and creating memories they will never forget.
On Wednesday, October 17th the Gators played their final home game, where the seniors were honored. They also presented their parents with flowers and cards to thanks them for all their support over the past several years. Many spectators attended the
game and cheered on the girls as they played Mouat Secondary, their rival team.
The Mouat Hawks were pummeled during the first two sets, but due to a
miscommunication, the Gators unfortunately lost the third set. They pulled it
together in the fourth set, played strong and came out with the win 25-13. The
senior girls want to thank all the fans that came out and supported them during
their last home game at WGSS.
