Hey Gators! Be sure to come to wgss at 2pm on Feb.2.2013 for a seniors night! A chance to say farewell to your grade 12 boys and girls basketball players. The players will receive awards and coaches will be speaking about the seniors they saw grow as players and people. Immediately following the heart-felt ceremony the senior boys will be playing a game so prepare to get loud gator nation!
Jack Bennett shown in photo above is a great example of how gator nation should act at the games. Do your best to get #GatornationSwag trending for Jack!
On January 22, 2013 the senior boys took on Ridge Meadows. The gators defeated Ridge up ending them 72-37. A notable performance by a crowd favorite Paul Getz, Getz posted a team high 17 points and 9 rebounds.
On Tuesday night all of the Gators basketball teams won! creating a sweep on the night.
To date, the seniors have had quite a successful season. In the first tournament of the year they placed second in the Lord Tweedsmir Tournament. They were undefeated until the final game where they lost by 4 points. Dallas Tilley and Carley Radomski both picked up all-star awards. The second tournament brought the girls to Nanaimo for the Dover Bay Tournament. Again they found themselves in the final and in a hard fought battle, lost to the Australians. In the third tourney of the year, at Yale Secondary, the Gators were also undefeated until the last game. MVPs went to Dallas Tilley, Cassidy Irwin and Kendra Goodman. On Jan. 8th the Gators won their first league game against Centennial. To end the winning streak, the girls could not defeat the Mouat Hawks. With hard practice the second part of the Gators season should be even more successful. With higher intensity and more points the girls will be able to defeat their rival the Brookswood Bobcats!!! GO GATORS!!
Gator Nation Gear website will be up and running soon! Be sure to check it out and bring your money to home games.
Tonight the 4-0 gators will be taking on Mouat in hopes to improve their record to 5-0. Hope to see gator nation out here supporting the senior girls, and making Gator Nation proud.
